>>1217497C: your chainline looks slack, like it's even dragging on the chainstay. mind uploading another photo of the bike on a bigger chainring? also you have oval chainrings.. that's rad as heck
>>1217515A: to begin, i will start by contradicting the first sentence of what will later turn out to be a total train-wreck of a post by suggesting he fulfill the "match your stem to your seatpost" tenet by switching to a black seatpost instead of redoing the entire cockpit for absolutely no practical reason whatsoever. late-80's, early 90's touring bikes should aim for a pragmatic yet vivid look rather than aping the dainty velo orange le lifestyle. this bike and all its accessories have already gone well in a more modern direction and your suggestions seek to steer him to a dark path that ends with 50 dollar bottle cages, cottered cranks, and bespoke bicycle luggage that costs more than a whole new touring bike fresh this year from the fuji factory.
B: he already has barrel adjusters at the exit of the cable housing so why, please, does he need another set to seat at the entry point?
C: trp rrl are ugly as sin. again: the look should be functional, not bargain bin retro. even tektro r340 levers would look better on that frame but my own recommendation for aero brake levers would be either some old 105 levers in good condition (see pic related) or the BL-R400 that shimano still manufacture.
D: if i had to choose one tradition to mindlessly follow, i'd much rather go with keeping to the celeste housing they put on it at the factory instead. he'll even have modern options like jagwire instead of making his really nice bike look like a period schwinn.
E: if there's any one product that velo orange makes that's actually a worthwhile decision, it's their fenders.
