>>1150551Anything new under $500 will be garbage. For $500 you can get a somewhat decent hybrid. What hybrids did he have in stock? Some hybrids are great bikes (Kona Dew, Trek FX, and Specialized Sirrus, just to name a few), while others are pure shit.
>pic fairly related>>1150643Whatever happens to be for sale on Craigslist in your area
>>1150648A new bike for $300 will be garbage. Spend at least 500 if buying new, preferably more. If you can't afford that, wait for a good deal on a used bike to come along.
>>1150676If I was in your place I'd be looking for an old (i.e. 1980s) steel road bike and expect to pay 100-200 for it. But that's just me. I like old steel bikes. The Fuji you're looking at would be a good choice too imo. I would go test ride it and see if you like it.
>>1150724Eh, I can't really advise then. At your price I would be inclined to go with something rigid (no suspension) because at that price point, the suspension will be garbage and add unnecessary weight. Suspension is great if it's good suspension, but not if it's bad suspension. Not sure if Nashbar/BikesDirect offer rigid mountain bikes though.
