Montreal's metro seems small but in reality downtown is squeezed in between the St-Lawrence river and Mount Royal so the metro has to connect every peripheral area as efficiently as possible. The bus network is also pretty solid so you rarely have to look at schedules if you need to take both a bus and the metro. The ride is smooth, the underground doesn't need heating nor a/c, people let you out of the train before getting in etc. Lots of small positive things all in all. The biggest flaw is that it doesn't get enough funding as you can see with
