>>1629427I bought a cheap new 7 speed road bike last year and have been having troubles with it.
The bottom bracket was too narrow to use all gears, the chain was too wide (7,3mm instead of 7,1mm), which means the chain would rub against cassette gears, get stuck on gears and make horrible noises.
I found a narrow chain on one of my family's bike, but it is a little short. It made the crunching sounds go away, but the derailleur now seems to make loud vibrating noises when pedalling. The derailleur is a tourney with aluminium cogs with sealed bearings (I lost the stock bearings like a retard).
Should I start with buying only a new chain or should I get a new derailleur as well? If I were to buy a Claris r2000, would it be compatible with 7s tourney shifters?
