Imagine building a bicycle with your joints in mind? Imagine being comfortable after riding over a mile of cobble road?
Is getting a soft tail a good idea? I always avoided it for rear SUSPENSION slows you down, but my bike's for urban explore/commute so comfort and joint health matter since roads here are in bad shape.
I want to know what fancy stuff is out to prevent energy loss in the pedal stroke, but I want to avoid anything that causes chain stretch [forget the name of the design]
Do mechanical switches exist to inert rear suspension? I get patches of clean pathway and then stretches of pure trauma. are there pitfalls or is there some smooth reliable design out there for this? really don't want electronic stuff but can be swayed.
also, I have $100 suntour forks, how much on the forks alone should I expect to spend to get a very noticeable bump in smoothness? I won't be hitting a trail or riding dead-on into curbs, but imagine.
To put things into perspective, I already own and love my cane creek suspension seatpost at $150
