I'm -past- that though. You might get the advice about tools, say, to buy the cheap ones first, break them, reach the limitations, and then upgrade. I use my fancy gear to do cool shit. It's valid.
As for 'data mining', well, what does that mean? Don't use facebook for one. Facebook is also probably the place where you can best connect with local riders, to get cheap used parts, borrow tools and make friends to ride with. So on one hand it represents the absolute worst of technology and on the other is a bastion of community, and avoiding it for your high minded technological/social ideals probably makes you an internet-only loser.
I also think taking in an interest in bicycles is one of the absolute best things a neet can do to come out of their shell, and I don't really understand why you'd be mad about them, or young people 'children', wanting to get on a bicycle and explore the world.
