My point tho is that you are going to pay 5k for being 1.8% faster in the best possible conditions. Those tend to be few and far in between.
And the 3-second thing was a hyperbole to drive a point across - above a certain point all money does is shaving more, and more expensive seconds off a ride time.
Take the bike on the attached pic. It has a claimed weight ~2.7kg and probably cost north of 10k. It is only an advantage on climbs, because in order to reach that weight compromises had to be made. On a flat course a person on this wonder _will_ be _slower_ then a dude on a 105 alloy bike because the latter is much stiffer, this has a better power transfer.
