You can convert a regular bike to cargo with a kit from Xtracycle, not that difficult if you're a basic DIY type. You end up with a longtail cargo bike like a Surly Big Dummy, I've been using my converted cargo bike for nearly 20 years now. You can get the kits new from Xtracycle or check eBay for a used Free Radical kit for usually less than half the cost of new.
