for cargo transportation motorcycles are pretty shitty, they can't carry more than 100lbs or so of cargo without a trailer of some kind
for human transportation, regular, small displacement motorcycles are better than all but the best purpose built hybrid cars, although many bikes are overpowered
there are plug in electric motorcycles, but they're expensive, gas-electric is probably also doable, but probably not needed for them, lots of room for improvement still
airplanes have a lot of variation in fuel efficiency because they have to carry enough fuel for their whole flight at the start of the flight
so for a long flight, a big chunk of the weight of the plane is fuel, and it has to burn lots of fuel just to start off carrying the fuel
looking at numbers for planes, i was a bit off, apparently modern ones are more efficient than i had thought, but not as much room for improvement
