>>1421765>The Rule of 105 states that the rim must be at least 105% the width of the tire if you have any chance of re-capturing airflow from the tire and controlling it or smoothing it.yet narrow as fuck rims with 25/28mm tires seems to be the norm. alu wheels with an added carbon shell seems like a potentially good solution if you don't want to go full carbon. i also don't quite get why (other than cost and UCI regs) people don't want frames with some body panels or fairings because the aero gains could outweigh the weight penalty in most situations.
