Even when the tyre is hooked in on both sides to the bead, or whatever the correct terminology, even after adding the sealant there's still a gap through which air is escaping. I can't inflate the tyre because of the gap. I've tried taking the rim off and trying to re seat it, but no matter how many times I do it I still end up with a gap between the tyre and rim through which air escapes.

Don't see how flattening it out is going to help that much.
