There is zero advantage to a 'real' bike basket. They are actually worse. They are insecure and are prone to flex, sway, and rattle. The designs are usually ugly.
'Money is no object' unracer builds, with bike specific wald baskets, will still use zip ties. If you're on a budget, you can scavenge any number of perfectly good baskets for free.
