>>1794667It really varies, that Orange (picrel) I bought for £120, spent around £100 or thereabouts and sold it for £470. Sometimes I do it for friends and in that case I'm happy to break even, I enjoy the process and it's lovely to get a mate out and about on a bike. The most I made on a bike was another Roberts that I bought for £180 and I made more than a grand selling various bits of boutique bling that were on it, I reinvested about £400 of those proceeds and built the bike up with a lovely XT group and sold that for £700.
When I first started I often lost money, but I learned a lot of valuable lessons, about business and about bikes, but i don't do it only for money, I like to make a bit if I can but what I really enjoy is riding the shit out of all these different bikes and the process of bringing them back to their best.
