>>1541867It has a shimano drivetrain but yeah the brakes could use an upgrade.
>>1541888It's a gitane mach 300. It's not a vintage bike and both my brother and I like it better than the €1400 one. It's a little heavier, but it's faster and the frame geometry, saddle and shifters are more comfortable than the €1400 bike.
The €1400 one came with frayed brake lines, a creaking frame, dragging front brake, a missing valve cap and the front brake is on the left hand instead of the right. (I know this common on bicycles but it's retarded. Front brake should be on the right side like on motorcycles and my cheap bike.)
We both tried the 1400 one one the same 53km route and we both prefer my €200 gitane. (Which by the way, seems to go for a lot more than €200 these days. Biking got a lot more popular.)
>>1541983It's a grey gitane mach 300 like pic related. Despite it being €1200 cheaper, heavier, the uneven crank, dinged, knicked and scratched frame it is faster, more comfortable and we both prefer it. The only reason he's keeping his expensive bike is because his work has a compensation thing where you can exchange days off for a bike and he's not going to use those days off anyway because covid.
More expensive does not mean better. Don't fall for the consoomer meme. I already liked my bike but now I'm completely healed from looking at other bikes. I might fix her up but I'm sticking with my baby.
