>>1460554at least you can go to the capital without a car. the train may be unefective, but it's an alternative. in peru you absolutely have to own a car to get arround the country unless you wanna go by bus, but most bus drivers don't even have a drivers' license, or they've just cheated or paid a small loan to corrupt officials to obtain it.
take into consideration that there're only some interprovincial bus routes, like lima - arequipa - cuzco, which is the one most tourists use, and because of the demand from forigners visiting the country the prices have gone up a lot in the last ten years.
we only have one, ONE single metro line in lima, our city is ranked as one of the cities with the worst traffic in the world at number 7 according to the TimTom Traffic Index, and our BRT system is not only small, but buses get full and there's no air conditioner and smells like rubbish.
https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/traffic-index/ranking/taxis are the most common way to get arround the city, but most drivers, again, have bought their drivers license without even taking any tests, they drive like fucking monkeys, and you can't even report them because either the car is rented or they work in some obscure company where you can't complain.
the thing that annoys me the most is that most buses that operate in lima are not only ilegal, but they have over a million bucks in penalty fees and they are still operating normally.
here's one example of what i'm talking about
