I considered the possibility of extending the green line further south/southwest to meet the commuter train once more, so that to get from Sausalito to a train station you wouldn't have to backtrack. However this would be much more complex, probably requiring a tunnel for most of that stretch, so for now I discarded it. I still think it works fine despite that.
