>>1562202Get the baofeng. Best value for money there is. They are high powered, dual-watch capable, and very lightweight. Programming them is a bit of a pain in the ass to learn, but very much worth it when I see the ABs walking around with the lead brick which is the motorola GP380. You need to program whatever channels (VHF and UHF) you want, or just use frequency mode like some kind of savage. Just keep in mind they are unlicensed and high power (8W) so be mindful of what frequencies you transmit.
I'm very happy with the GT-3TP, and the rest of the models are probably decent too. Sure it's not as rugged as the professional EX-type radios, but at 1/4 the weight and 1/24 the price you can't beat it.
