I'm thinking of building an electric Quickie. The original did 120+ MPH with just an 18 HP lawnmower engine for power, so I don't think it's so far outside the realm of feasibility. Any ideas for sourcing the motor and controller? Model airplane motors aren't big enough, I was wondering if maybe something like a golf cart could be cannibalized for the job. Obviously the battery would be too heavy but it looks like I could get about an hour endurance (which means more like a half hour in practice, because VFR reserves) from 100 lbs of li-ion juice.
