>>1208404The 200 passengers per car figure come from direct counting and observation on daily operation by government, which also reflect the level of overcrowding in the system that passengers are willing to put up with this sort of density to put themselves into the tram
>>1208397>bus system on top of tram system95%+ buses that stop near tram stations are either feeder service or inter-regional routes that travel beyond the area served by the system. Maybe you can eliminate those bus stops along the way by moving them to near light rail terminals and force people to make a transfer, but that would be counterproductive and I don't think the system have this amount of capacity either.
And then there are also a few routes that operates as reliever services the system, one of them is even directly operated by the system operator to better utilize the resources.
>Improvement suggestionsFirst of all a problem would be since the system is losing money, it would be hard to convince the system operator implement any suggestions that just focus on improving capacity/accessibility without efficiency gain especially for items that need a large amount of reconstruction cost and time like turning the system into a low floor one.
>Long tramsLongest available tram on earth seems to be 9-cars CAF Urbos 3 (56m) that's used in systems like Budapest but the nominal capacity for each of them are still just about 327.
>Eliminating station at Yuen LongAll stations in the segment, especially Hong Lok Road and the two surrounding stations, have extremely high ridership. Eliminating any of them would increase the safety risk at other neighboring stations due to the amount of passenger flow. It would also make people living further away from the corridor become more difficult to use the system.
