After getting my near-BSO wrecked by a druggie friend of (insert family member). I've gone to a big ass bike shop(was 14yo)
Test ridden the bike (trek 7.6fx) in the 2000 square meter store.
Bought it,loaded it into me dads car home.
At home I cleaned out any grease out of the bontrager hubs(wayy lo little of it anyway),and properly preloaded the hubs(bit of play when not installed, thanks based sheldon)
Loaded it with a load of amber colored lithium grease and inflated the tires to the recommended pressure, and there it started.
Boring side story, the "near BSO" had its derailleur(acera)in the spokes when I shifted into the lowest gear, not having done anything to the gears myself,it was I think it was still in the warranty period but the fucking tools @ halfords(haha bankrupt now you cunts)said it was user error and claimed a fucking 100 euro repair fee, without looking at the state of the derailleur.
Ofc the limit screws were not set properly at all.
Getting sick of this shit even at 14yo age I youtubed and sheldonbrowned the fuck out of bikes and concluded the derailleur was fine, fuck it was prestine even somehow, the wheels/spokes too...somehow.
I searched the internet for a suitable derailleur hanger and BAM,a few days layer I got one from the shop(same shop I got my trek 7.6fx from) for 15 euros.
(Most) bike shops here are hacks and scammers,I can now truly relate to the american posters saying shit about LBS's
