I see a lot of people on /n/ claim to be cyclists however in my opinion this is very far from the truth.
First of all, BMX, Cyclocross and Mountain bikes are not real cycling disciplines - if you are into these then you are NOT a real cyclist. You're just a weirdo who owns a bicycle.
Secondly, if you own a steel road bicycle that you use to commute to work, school or leisurely ride around you're not a real cyclist. Again, you're just a weird guy who happens to own a vintage bicycle no different from a Penny Farthing enthusiast.
If you own a fixed gear you are almost certainly NOT a real cyclist and if you own a track bicycle then you're a track cyclist which is related but it's not actually real cycling. You're not a real cyclist you're a track cyclist.
There are other criteria that you must be aware of should you want to actually be a real cyclist.
You must ride over 150KM a week bare minimum, you must be physically lean, you must have a carbon frame + fork and you must have a high end groupset. If you don't have clipless pedals then you're also not a real cyclist.
Also real cyclists are 100% of the time white. Thanks for reading and I'm glad that we could clear up some of the confusion.
