In this day and age mecha in anime are done in 3dCGI because it's colossal pain in the ass to draw them by hand, and because action scenes involving giant robots usually come with a lot of fancy fx and debris and background scenery getting destroyed.
Going this route isn't even a question of quality anymore, unless you're a big studio or have a staff experienced at this, attempting 2d mecha is going to kill you.
And this is what Actas did, and of course the mecha show got delayed and is airing at the same time as Longriders as they fix their episodes.
I'm scared for whatever GuP project they're working on because it looks like they're trying 2d tanks next and it'll be the same ride all over again
