Not as close as on my PPL flight test, but going different directions at very different speeds.. I'd have almost shat myself.

there's an investigation going on now apparently.
But evidently he overshot the runway, landing too far down the runway, and didn't have enough power to take off again.
He pulled up at the last second but clipped the trees and somehow ended up like this.

I have no idea if he was overloaded, but by the time he had wheels on the ground, it was far too short of an area to successfully stop

Interesting. He got lucky.

A few miles away some guy crashed on main street and died in the fire. The instructor managed to escape. This was in East Hartford, CT a few days ago. Almost hit a minivan.
