Help me buy some pedals.

From wiggle or chain reaction, I need some new pedals for my mtn bike.

The ones I bought last year were too thick and had poor ground clearance. I've sheered off about 1/2 of the pegs.

So the number 1 thing I'm looking for is ground clearance.

(flat pedals obvs)

Consider shorter crank arms a thin pedal isn't going to save a whole lot on clearance. Pedals are disposable anyway - they are gonna take hits. i use cheap wellgo magnesiums and replace them every year but they rarely lose pins (they are thick doe).

I don't have the funds to do something major like that.

I think it will be easy to find a pedal that is 1/2 as thick as the ones I have now.

How thick are the ones you have now? You're not going to get much thinner than around 25mm (including pins). Second hand cranks can be had fairly cheap and depending on what you have now may not be a downgrade and could save you about 5-10mm.

You may also want to compare widths, a narrower pedal will also gain you a bit of clearance when leaned over or from obstacles on the side of the trail. Of course don't go for something so narrow that your foot hangs off the side.
