this is obvious bait, but for those wondering: the common rule for the wear incurred on a road is proportional to the weight of the vehicle to the fourth power, meaning the wear of a bicyclist vs the wear from a car is

(200^4) / (2000^4)

which comes out to one ten-thousandth as much wear.

unfortunately, the "road repair cost" comes from the highway fund which is only paid about halfway by usage taxes (gas, tires, registration, tolls), with the other half coming from the general tax fund, which cyclists pay into just as much as anyone else. meaning:

cyclists incur one ten-thousandth as much damage to the roads
yet still pay half as much in taxes

Bikes have weight too. The average American male weighs 180-195 pounds and the average bike probably weighs close to 30 pounds. That said the average cyclist is going to be lighter than the general average, probably closer to 170 pounds so 200 pounds total is a pretty good estimate.

Also, how does the road wear work with regards to weight distribution? A semi can haul 40 tons, but that's on 4-5 axles instead of 2.
