At that time Silesia was the proving ground for electrical traction for the Prussian/German Railways, because it had lots of heavy industry and a very challenging topography. The E 95 was also used for passenger services later on. This specific loco was refurbished in 1959 in the GDR and used in regular operation till 1969. It survived scrapping as a stationary transformer is now preserved with the goal of eventual making it operational, though im not sure if they will ever get to that point.
