This model was just released in N scale. And the New Haven line used to be run by the New Haven railroad. And it somehow survived Penn Central management relatively intact.

I think it's pretty cool that the Northeast was able to keep its electrified inter-urban passenger rail system. So props to them.

Yeah, coming from the West Coast, the New Haven Line is pretty impressive in terms of speed and frequency. What are the branches like, though (like up into Westchester and beyond)?

i brought my bike on the hudson line and got funny looks from ppl. r u allowed to do this? i noticed some cars have a little area for handicapped people but idk how to make sure i go to these cars when i get on. do these cars look different from the outside in anyway?

New Haven line used to be nothing but the worst cars imaginable. I used to look over at the Hudson line and have sadfeels.

They had bar cars then though, that was cool. They got rid of them which was a shame, people who didn't know each other outside of their commute would hang out and people used to take certain departure times based on who was in the bar cars.

But they upgraded the cars so they aren't bad.

The conductors on the New Haven line seem to be happiest group, any other NHfags notice that?

The branches are pretty crummy in CT. Single track, diesel, 2 hour headways. The state is investing in new signaling (thanks for the mandate, feds) and some sidings though which should eventually improve service, but for now all we get is semi-regular weekend bustitution.

things changed i got on the hudson line and the ticket taker had this smug look on his face and told me i couldnt bring my bike on the train at peak times unless i pay extra money on top of the bloated regular fare. then as i was leaving this other guy got on with a tiny folding bike and he was allowed on . i ended up getting on the nex train and that conductor didnt care. fuck trains ((acturally fuck the first train but the second train was alright i took a nap on it i liked thtat one there is something very relaxing abt trains))

Oh man, it just keeps getting better. Last year, my town sold the old train station building and the parking lot to a guy who wants to put a restaurant in there. The sale included an easement for 25 spots for the train station. This past week he closed the lot for repaving, and had everyone towed. He closed the lot without notifying MetroNorth so they could notify their riders.

Yeah, I don't really understand the whole bicycles on public transit thing. Like in our city if everyone had a bicycle on transit it would be an absolute nightmare, yet apparently they're allowed. It's kind of a case of appeasing some people, while hoping everyone doesn't take advantage.
