So I've been watching all kinds of fighter jet documentaries, and I have a question:

Why is the F-22 designated as a dog fighter?

It's fucking huge it could easily hold bombs.

Apparently the f22 does have wing tanks and external hard points. I'd just never seen any photos of the plane using them.

What kind of documentaries have you been watching if you can't figure out the answer to that easily? It's because it's optimized for "dog fighting." I don't really understand what your point is, or even what you're asking.

How is it a dogfighter when it's built to strike BVR?

It has some sikk maneuvering capabilities but it will never have a realistic use for them.

It's an air superiority fighter. Decent top speed and pretty good loiter time. (Not designed for maximum dash/climb rate with minimal loiter/range, as you'd see with a purpose built interceptor).

It's designed to park in the sky on overwatch, stealthy enough to put a missile up your ass before you even know it's there. If anything gets close enough to it for a "dogfight" to occur, something has gone terribly wrong.

It can carry 2,000lbs of internal stores, which is nothing to sneeze at. Comparable to a B-25.
