Dunno if you've seen them but they're basically ripping off Apple. Pic related, these new Google phones are more Apple-y than they've ever been before.
But then I realised, that's what you NEED to do in the smartphone space. For years, phone makers have tried to fight Apple on specs, but the thing is that phones are a very visible item, just like clothing or a watch or your car, which means people aren't really persuaded by specs, they're persuaded by whether the product is fashionable and desirable. iPhones are more expensive than the competition, and sometimes worse in specs, but the fashionability is why people want them.
So now Google are trying to pull an Apple, they're essentially trying to mimic them, especially now that they're building their own hardware which they never did before, but also just the aesthetic is now very Apple-y (pic related).
But you're right, 10% better isn't good enough, you've got to be a lot better if you want to shift momentum.
