Yay

I've been wearing one under my helmet for about 2 years now, be it hot or cold. Great for protecting your head in cold and for sweat absorption in the heat. As an added bonus, I get to wear clear cycling glasses because of the sun visor so people who I talk to can actually see my eyes.

But never wear it without a helmet. It looks fucking retarded.

For under-helmet I use a special under-helmet head sock that fits me better.
For no helmet daily commute I only ever use a running cap because it was cheaper and the shade longer which works best for the purpose I use it for - keeping me specs dry from the rain.

I can't imagine not wearing a cap, it's my daily attire because it keeps the sun from blinding me, keeps heat in on cold days, and helps with sweat on hot days (especially for mtb or road group rides when I've got a helmet on over the cap). The alternative for me would be spending extra cash for prescription sunglasses that would only be useful during daylight hours on the bike - even I bought some I'd have to carry around my normal glasses anyways since I'm blind without them.

I have two caps, and I often wear them in the rain under my helmet, but I don't really like having impeded vision so I usually always end up flippinh the peak up.

This in turn leaves me with even more impeded vision because of all the raindrops on my shades, but it somehow doesn't feel as bad.

Yes. Cap is easier to wash than the helmet, so I let the cap soak up sweat instead of helmet pads.

Don't know why you even have to ask such a dumb question. Stick with your baseball cap and no helmet, cusstard.

Cycling caps can whisk away sweat much better than most baseball caps.
Cycling caps are comfortable and form fitting (elastic fibers, multiple panels, fine seems with minor overlap).
Cycling caps provide superb ventilation.
Cycling cap brim is adjustable.
Cycling caps are light.
