>>1112205>There are some 2x cranks with a reasonable jump (CX cranks with 36/46, some mtb cranks around 24/34) but mostly I seem to be hunting between the chainrings with the chain absolutely sideways trying to find a comfortable gear.I remember when i switched from an entry triple mtb to a more serious AM HT with 24/36, it was brilliant. With tripple I was always in the wrong chainring on the descent (22/32/42).
Now on a road bike, the 39/52 is also brilliant - hill pops up, change front, time for a short descent change to big, mostly I dont even touch the rear in those situations.
its much more comfortable than doing shifts front and rear like I did with triple, but I gess there are other factors on how it fits, but for me, I avoid tripples as much as I can since many of tripples also couse chainrubs on FD.
>>1112205>With a triple, I ride it about 80% of time like a 1x in the middle ring, only shift the front if I get into the extreme ends.well put, with 2x its either descent or climb / ascent or descent (almost 50-50 usage). 2x fits me more and need far less RD shifts after first FD shift. Its significantly more simple riding for me.
