I'm looking at a commuter bicycle on eBay. I'm poor, and Australian stores only seem to sell normie mountain bikes and sports tourers, no old fashioned no-frills bikes, so I need a second hand one. The one I'm looking at is cheap and rideable, but I'm just trying to size up how much money I'll need to spend on it to get it like new again.
The ad says that only the front brakes work 'due to a split in the tubing on the back brakes'. Is that something I can fix myself, or would I need to buy a new cable? How much might that be?
