>>1130069This. Being licensed and able to drive a motor vehicle is a good skill to have in the modern world. Owning a motor vehicle is a separate decision.
I got my license when I turned 16 and bought a car (or more accurately, my parents bought it and I paid them back over time). I fell in love with cycling later, and when I was 23 I gave my car away to a relative who needed one and never replaced it. I'm 30 now and don't want to own a car anytime in the foreseeable future - on occasion I'll drive a friend's car or help a family member out by driving a rental moving truck if needed, but in general I find that driving in a city is an unpleasant, stressful task that my life is better if I can avoid it. Sometimes I think about buying another car just to have for hauling really heavy stuff or long road trips, but then I realize that I would use it so infrequently that it just doesn't make sense for me.
