>>1135638you are comparing apples to oranges here man, i'm not saying that car's haven't improved by miles, they have, just that they aren't sustainable
modern cars have dozens of microprocessors and full blown computers in them, which is mind blowing technology as well
they still make very inefficient use of public space, require huge amounts of government spending on infrastructure
they are one of the driving factors behind the obesity epidemic, cause tens of thousands of deaths a year, and contribute to rising cancer rates
meanwhile they burn oil, using up a precious, finite resource that wars are fought over, while releasing poison into the atmosphere
just because something is more technologically advanced does not mean it is better, not by a long long way
part of the beauty of a bicycle is its simplicity, how a few, elegantly designed components can fit together to create an extremely efficient machine
you can go out and build or buy a bike with a cvt igh, belt drive, full suspension, electrical assist, builtin gps navigation, and a bunch of other shit
but that's defeating the point of bikes, the idea that a simple, elegant machine can extend a human's capabilities to the point that they can go anywhere
