>>1135878Where are you getting that I am so worried from?
The op was asking how often cyclists are actually in dangerous situations because of car drivers
I answered him by listing common dangerous situations that cyclists find themselves in that he might not be aware of
I am not saying that I am terrified to ride and worried all the time, if that were true then I wouldn't commute by bike
I exercise adequate caution when I am riding and have been safe for years, and I have already said this
You are misunderstanding what I mean by saying that there is no excuse for negligence on the part of the city or drivers
Of course I cannot control what everyone else does, and there will always be careless drivers and bad urban planners
But that does not excuse the drivers, that does not excuse the city, and ignoring it prevents any chance of improving it
There have been successful bike safety campaigns, and they almost always build on statistical data
And I also disagree with you saying that it isn't bad drivers or bad planning that causes "accidents", its attitude
I agree that being careful and being aware of what's going on can protect you from probably 99% of crashes
But realize that the person who ran the light, or the person who was speeding, or the person who passed to close is at fault
Don't blame the victim of a crash when they were in the right, blame the person who caused the crash through recklessness
