I don't get too much trouble on the road but i've had a handful of really bad experiences that have all lead me down a path of better prepping for them in the future.
I wear a helmet always because it saves lives, but also it protects me if anyone wants to confront me.
I have a U-Lock to lock up my shit but also as a form of self defense if again someone confronts me
I wear a protective reflective vest that is neon yellow so I stick out like a sore thumb, especially in winter where everything is bleak and grey.
I have a front light that allows me to see about 15 meters or so in front of me.
I have a blinking tail light on always.
Then finally for the bike itself I have fenders to well, fend off the rain splashing on me and getting dirt on me.
Oh and when it's winter, I wear a wind-proof jacket, thermal gloves, a tub neck that acts like a face mask, ear muffs or scarf and finally I have some long john underwear to keep my knees and legs warm.
I don't have any good socks or special shoes tho. Just wear sneakers and sometimes double up on socks.
Any of you bois have any recs for socks/shoes?
I also carry a back-up for change of cloth, groceries, phone/wallet, keys, a kit for my bike (mostly spares and a small hand pump), etc.
