Where are you touring right now?
Where are you planning to tour next?

Anything Touring/Bikepacking related really.

I ride my Specialized Allez for Audax type rides but not able to carry too much on a light bike. I have a Voodoo Aizan 29er mountain bike that I am considering changing to be for more exploring around local forest and rough roads and tracks. Would this be feasible?

Of course, just get some bags for it and go have fun. Hardtails are truly the comfiest for bikepacking from my experience. Fuck rigid forks for that extra 2 watts of rigidity or whatever.

My biggest issue is getting it comfortable. I can ride all day on my road bike in comfort, but trying the same on my mountain bike leads to pain. I think I need to learn more about how to set up mountain bikes as I am mostly used to road bikes.

Lower luggage capacity, no clearance for wide tires (for off road sections) and wanting my mountain bike to better suit me.

I don't care about efficiency, I care about places to put my gear. I'm generally not going fast enough for suspension to matter much, anyway.

Not the highest quality materials but the stitches and work is good and the 4 bag set is cheap af. Holding out well for me for the last 2 years. Not waterproof though which is a bummer.
Guy who makes them is cool too, some dude living in the Ural mountains making bikepacking bags.

Same as for summer, except using a liner all the time, with a thermally reflective bivy between the liner and the sleeping bag, and significantly more clothing on.

I believe the pad has a R value of 4.4 .

I've been eyeballing some cool routes in Israel recently, and they both go through the desert.

I like deserts. When you can see for 10s or hundreds of miles in every direction, without seeing another soul, it's amazing.

The plants that can hang on in such a harsh environment are incredible too. It also makes you appreciate water a lot more. Out in the desert, warm water can taste better than the finest wine.
