Hey guys. It's a 2005 specialised rockhopper frame that had the wheels and other components stolen when it was chained up. I paint stripped it and polished it. I put a shimano saint groupset on it and Hadley / sun rims / serfas drifter wheels I hand built. The fork is a Look Fornales. I built it in 2007 and ride it daily.

I have had the to re-machine various fork components over the years because the design / 7000 series Aluminium wasn't up to spec and cracked

The initial climb out on Quimby Rd was rough (the first peak on the profile). About 3 miles long; 9% for the first two miles and a solid 13% for the last mile. 2nd climb was a fast, middle-of-the-cassette climb. 3rd climb wasn't bad in terms of grade, but it sure was a slog.

It was 37F at the peak. I forgot my full-finger gloves; so descending was cold. My fingers were definitely numb by the Kincaid junction.

The Kincaid out-and-back - the section between 23.5 and 35.5 miles - doesn't look like a lot of elevation, but it was rougher than it looks. I hadn't done a good job of planning nutrition (eat a good breakfast, folks) and didn't have a lot left in the tank.

The descent is great - fast and not too technical.

Overall, super scenic and not a lot of traffic. Highly recommended if you're in the SF Bay area.

i gotta get something for my feets. took the scout out for some flatland miles and was nice and toasty except for my toes. wonder if it might be cheaper to get some of those insulated shoe covers and swap to spd pedals (which i already have) than drop a million burgers on 'winter flats'
