>>1151963I ran rear brake only on my dirt jumper. I also used it for trail riding. front brake only is pretty useless on dirt as under no circumstances do you want the front to wash out. Also it's not as much of a problem on a bike like that because you have enough clearence to shift most of your wieght over the rear and it will be there anyway if your descending steep stuff. If I wanted the simplicity of a single brake off road I would go rear.
All that to say, looking at the other bikes they make, they look like they are inspired by dirt jumpers and it's probably a hold over from that, not that it makes much sense in this case.
