Pretty lazy from Trek to call it "gravel bike", seems like normal Domane (i.e road bike) with knobby tires thrown in to me. Looks like it has less tire clearance than your standard CX bike..

If you can afford the domane get a titanium frame with slightly wider clearances instead imo. I've got the regular domane and whilst it is a great endurance road bike, I would never give up my kinesis for everyday riding. The domane comes out for club runs

Rain is clean, road spray is filthy. Fenders stop grit getting into the drivetrain & headset as well, lowering maintenance. If it's stopped raining and the road is wet, then you'll stay dry with fenders. They're fucking great for commuting in the rain.

But yeah they don't really belong on a road bike, an ass-saver is what you want then, OPs bike isn't exactly a road bike though is it.

What I don't quite get is fenders on gravel/ adventure bikes, because they seem like a serious liability then. Jamming with mud, rocks, breaking if you put the bike down, another thing to rattle/ come loose on rough roads, and limiting clearance.

truth, I can't speak for everyone but I think the criticism against OP's bike is the lack of fender/rack/pannier mounts is a sign of being closer to a CX race bike than an adventure/gravel bike despite being advertised as one by Trek.

Of those issues the only one I have ever encountered riding a kinda fucky drop bar conversion 90s rigid is limited clearance. I've ridden some pretty rough stuff and never had an issue with jamming the wheels from rocks. I don't really ride in mud though, cause it fucks trails, so I could see how that could be an issue. I also keep about 1" clearance between tire and fender, so that could help a lot

Dual/Interrupter levers offer additional accessibility to the brakes while maintaining or enhancing comfort and safety. When commuting I'm normally on the hoods, and when touring you can see way ahead and have tons of time to plan your stops. I only really ride on the tops if I'm leaning back or about to do something stupid. If you need the brakes, just move to the hoods.

Although In touring situations (long roads, no frequent stop/intersections/obstructions) dual breaks are not imperative, wouldn't you say that its better have them than to not? They're versatile and convenient, and provide additional accessibility if you like the tops, like to switch hand positions constantly, want to get into a more aero position, etc.

Interrupters are superb and there are no negatives to them in non-racing situations.

If you like riding on the tops just use a flat bar. Switching hand positions is great, but tops just aren't a normal position to use. And if you want aero then use the drops, that's what they're for. Aero tucks are fucked unless you're racing, and then you probably don't need to brake while doing them.

No bike has a pain in dick to work on part equivalent to a boxer engine.

Treks are solid OP. If you don't wrench they got a good support network. If you do wrench you can strip them to the frame and build them up as you like.

On the subject of interruptor levers I can only say that I ride on the tops quite a bit and I don't miss having brake levers there. When I need to brake I move my hands to the hoods.
Then again, my drop bar bike is a fixed gear so I do a lot of speed modulation with my legs.
Also, I ride a fixed gear, which probably instantly invalidates my opinion on anything.

Congrats, it's one step above a BSO. Chances are it has interrupter levers because whoever slapped the parts kit together thought that "cross levers" (which comes from crossbar, btw, not cyclocross) belong on a "cross bike".

I have a Roubaix, Great bike, but its no gravel bike. I went a slightly different route for Gravel and just got a Trek 920. I won't be doing gravel races, just gravel rides, I wanted a "do all" bike so the 920 fit that bill.

Anyone who rides at pace above grandma tier on rough shit knows you tend to put your hands on the tops for the majority of the time because your hands and wrists get beat to hell when riding fast on shitty surfaces, interrupters are great to have for quick dabs of braking which is something you do a ton of on these surfaces and just makes riding smoother and more efficient.

The gold standard seems to be 700x40 and 650x48 clearance for these kinds of bikes now so compared to that yes it definitely is small.

Wrong, I had a chance to exchange my bike for a Checkpoint, I did not like it. The Checkpoint lacked the rear iso speed decoupler and had a lower tier group set. I chose to keep the Domane, once the gravel meme ends Ill use it as a typical road bike.

Exponential just means relating to an exponent in plain English, and exponential growth means increasing rate of growth over time, in contrast to linear growth or decaying growth. I disagree. I think that when people talk about exponential growth, they think about growth that arises from the terms of a geometric sequence i.e. exponential functions, not polynomial.

No one means a constant function or linear growth when they say polynomial growth growth. This is again, specificity without accuracy. You are able to clearly and explicitly define something, but in a pointless and inaccurate way in terms of actually conveying meaning. All you're saying is that you can express x^2 as a polynomial, not that it is actually a polynomial. x^2 is a mononomial, just like x + x^2 is a binomial.
