>>1161926I've had two birdstrikes to date, both in a Cub. One of those was during landing not unlike this. A flock of little birds was crossing the runway in front of me and I was already too slow and committed to avoid them. One in my path looked squared up right on the windshield, but dodged me just in time. Another appeared a second later from under the nose, then darted down under again. I thought maybe he cleared the prop arc too, but just after touchdown I looked back and saw guts splattered all over the left flap and bottom of the wing.
The second birdstrike happened at surprisingly high altitude out in the desert. A somewhat larger bird - pidgeon-sized or so - managed to make it through the prop arc but then hit the wing root. I actually had a rear-facing gopro running at the time and captured a few frames of the bird tumbling away after the strike.
I've also hit two birds since then while driving but I don't think anyone cares about those.
