How do I get over the fear of leaving my decently nice road bike locked up outside places?

I purchased a new bike back in 2011 before my sophomore year of college, some meme big box brand hybrid, left it outside my apartment overnight locked up to the bike locks with a cable lock and it was stolen within a few days. I then purchased a legit road bike used and even though I have two u-locks, I have never left it locked up unattended since then. if I go to a grocery store for a few items, I bring it inside. If I go to a fast food place, I bring it inside. Luckily the subway station I take to work has card activated bike lockers.

Obviously it's pretty inconvenient to bring it inside places, but I just can't get over the fear of leaving my nicer bike alone unattended, and I really don't want to have to get those 50 pound bike chains and locks
