Last time I was in Vienna (2013, so it could've changed since then), it was impossible to acquire any maps about the whole transit system, they only had maps about the subway system, and you had no idea where the trams and buses go. Wasn't anywhere near comfy tbqh.

Amsterdam is cool. It has lines that are good for short distance travels within the dense old town as well as fast long distance lines. The cars and tracks are all in very good condition. And they still employ conductors, yay.
Dresden has also very extensive and high quality network which serves the whole city. No ubahn or sbahn, just trams, fast and frequent.

It was the time they changed their maps to a more simple system(from Satelite Map with lines(which i think ist better) to only lines, just like any other public transport map). The whole public transport map isn't for free but for a small fee of 1.50€. But you don't need it since every station with a shelter has a map with the whole system and stations with out have the area printed on

My family was forced to flee to Switzerland in 1944 from Hungary. They made it out of Budapest thanks to a train. God bless trains and long live /n/! Maybe in an alternate history I would still be writing on here from Budapest instead of the United States

Stalinist East Berlin kept its trams while capitalist West Berlin scrapped them. Now they're extending the old tram network back into the western half of the city. If they had kept the trams, the system would be by far the biggest in the world.

East Berlin did in fact close large parts of its network, but never planned to close the entire thing. The tramways that run to/through Alexanderplatz and the centre of (what was) East Berlin were only reopened after unification.

Same goes with many other western cities, because they had seen Trams as an obsticale for cars. See L.A. they had the biggest community railsystems in the world. Now the Public transport is a joke. I can speak only for vienna, in world war 2 we had the double km rails after that more busses came and the subway

That's true. East Germany still has a handful of comfy tiny-ass tram networks in towns such as Naumburg (32 000 inhabitants), Halberstadt (pic related; 43 000 inhabitants), Gotha and Nordhausen (similar in size). They survived the rise of cars because of gommunism. Even after the reunification, they still run to this day.

A city with literally 0 trams.
We had a tram network which connected the (then) only university, with the inner suburbs and CBD, and we fucking got rid of it.

The current government has pledged to build a light rail network, but no work has been done on it.

Australian here so forgive me if I'm wrong but the dashed lines I think just seperate the two outer lanes from the two inner tram tracks which are as wide as maybe 1.5 lanes. There's a car pictured further up the street on top of the tram track so I don't think its verboten to drive a car there, just only on your side of the road and you're probably not allowed to delay trams just like in Melbourne.
