In reading over this event, it seems like the big power trip was from the gate attendant/supervisor and not the flight/cabin crew itself. With the big three's ongoing efforts to fully integrate the regional service with the rest of their own service (identical aircraft color schemes, larger aircraft like the E-Jets which are indistinguishable from the mainline fleet to most travelers, etc) I wouldn't be surprised if they were just using the regional vendors for planes and the people who crew them at this point, as the supervisors behavior seemed far more in line with what you expect from someone working at United proper that someone still working their way up to that in a more junior position at Republic.
