It's a sad day folks. Today my Old'n'Faithful 1998 TREK 8300sl broke the right chainstay. I didn't even hear a crack or anything, it just suddenly felt like I had a flat in the back. Air pressure in the tire was fine. Drove the last 500m home and diagnosed frame failure. It's done for I suppose - especially sad since my dad passed the bike down to me and in the course of her life I've patched and repaired practically every part at least once...
At least she was ridden like a true steed. Speedometer shows 120908 km total distance, the only silver lining to a tragic end.
Any fatal damage stories? I'd love to hear how others have coped with the loss of a good bike they've ridden to death.
