>>1173724Westjet B737-200 C-FIWJ on a buddy pass from Comox, BC (YQQ) to Calgary, AB (YYC) in December 2002. (I believe the aircraft is now retired).
Pic is of the plane & I was seated at the 8th window on right hand side. I remember being one of the 1st to board. I asked which is the best seat for a nervous 1st time flyer, the guy smiled & said I would want a window seat. Glorious sunny clear day the entire way. Take off was awesome (love the speed) but when the nose lifted & we became airborne, within seconds exhilaration was replaced with deep unease. Lol.. i'm not keen on heights.. but as long as I concentrated on the horizon I was ok. Just when looking down was I uncomfortable. Got a glass of Coke, they pour it from a can so I didn't get the whole contents.
Flight attendants cracking jokes the whole way was pretty good. Several passengers told a few too. The in-flight safety speech was humorous. She introduced herself & then the other 2 as "Julie & Mike. They're having an affair with each other." All heads shoot up. She goes, "Ahh... now I have your real attention" smiles & goes on about exits etc. :^)
Weird thing for me was how quickly it took, ~60 mins, I normally drive the route in about 14 hrs under normal circumstances.
So far the only time i've flown commercial. I almost flew in 1994 in the jumpseat of a cargo B737 but it was cancelled after a minor accident.
