Any cheaper alternatives to the new Mash steel frameset? I like the idea of a urban track frame with enough clearance for proper cx tires and optional canti brakes. The price is too high w/customs and import taxes as I live in Europe.

On-One Pompino is a pretty obvious choice. They don't sell them any more at On-One/Planet X but I'm sure there's plenty of used framesets available for cheap. The default curved fork looks pretty ugly, but with a straight fork the frame looks pretty nice.

Cinelli also makes their version of the Mash Work, it's called Cinelli Tutto and should be quite a bit cheaper to buy in Europe.

And of course there's also the old aluminum Mash SSCX frame if you still manage to find one for sale somewhere or second hand, it's a lightweight frame with lots of tire clearance and optional canti studs.

You know there's a reason why steel forks are curved, right?
It is full retard to get a comfy bike with wide tires and then make the concession for a straight blade fork unless discs are forcing you or it's carbon.

Kilo WT, reynold 520 cromoly steel frame apparently fits up to 700x45c and 1.75 29er tires for $500 full bike

Careful anons. I have a kilo tt, and bought continental cyclocross tires (35c) and couldn't clear them. Not sure how the WT is different, but I wouldn't chance it. OP should look into all city

Surly steamroller w/ a Hunter CX fork because fuck you. You're probably going to have a low gearing going off pavement so fuck a rear brake if your doing it fixed. I believe it clears up to 35c in the rear and more up front. Stupid idea, but I'm just adding fuel to the flame
