>Did you ever find what caused the flats in the tire? Always run your tire logos in the same place so when you take the tube out you can easily find the puncture and work out where on the tire it is and what caused it if it's not a snakebite so it doesn't recur
>if it's a snakebite inflate your tubes more
>patch your tubes if you can, spare tube is only backup, patch kit will have 5+ patches
>don't use levers to get the tire back on so it doesn't pinch the tube.

lol it's really not, but it's even more about just pacing each other. I was amazed the first time i did a long climb with someone stronger than me. Just completely went into the zone holding his wheel at all costs and flew up it.
I could have never ridden like that alone.

If the tire is very tight, you can bring a small bottle with dishwashing soap in it. Makes it much easier on your hands.

Some patches seem to be crap. Could be they get contaminated with something during the manufacturing process that prevents the vulcanizing fluid from working. I bought a big box of Rema 25 mm round patches and a bunch of small rubber cement tubes from ebay to refill my patch kit.

For patching at home I use a big tube of cement since the small tubes dry up on their own fairly quickly once the seal is broken.

how do you even fix flats when it destroys the tire? my bike uses unbendable tires so i cant keep spares with me and the last flat was a really loud explosion that made the thing smell like something was burning in there.

It really depends on the tire. For example; you will not get marathons on without tire levers. It takes me ten minutes to get a single one on and I've had practice. But my old tires went on in 30 seconds. The difference is immense.
