>>1203812>1X drivetrains are just a fucking memeI'm kind of a retrogrouch here; I still have a 3x9 setup on two of my bikes (including the one that sees the most miles). But you could not pay me to go back to a 2x or 3x setup on my mountain bike. Being able to concentrate fully on the terrain and not worry about what chainring I'm in is *great*.
>On my MTB, i go for 2X11 right now and i can outspeed all 1X drivetrainsYeah? Who gives a shit? Sure, I'm missing a little on the top end vs. my old 3x9 setup or 2x10 setup, but I'm not racing XC, I'm just trying to have fun. 1x is so much less fussy. Less time fucking around with my drivetrain = more time having fun.
>>1203840>>1203812You're going on and on about gear range, but that's absolutely not the problem with 1x setups.
A SRAM 1x12 setup with the 10-50 cassette has almost as much gear range as my old 3x9 setup, and more than most 2x10 setups. A SRAM 1x11 10-42 setup has as much gear range as the 2x11 on my road bike.
Where the 1x setups suffer is the large gaps between gears. My 3x9 and 2x11 setups have 8-9% gaps for the top 8 ratios; whereas SRAMs 10-42 and 10-50 cassettes have a 20% jump at the top followed by a 17% jump. Fine for pedaling downhill on a mountain bike, I guess, but it sucks for pedaling on flat-ish terrain and trying to maintain a comfy cadence as your speed changes with headwinds/varying grades/etc.
>>1203851>28x11>have no issues on the flatsJesus dude how slow are you
