It isn't illegal to take the lane if the bikelane is substandard, at least in most states. If you have to piss some drivers off to stay safe, that's ok, its better than trusting a bunch of lazy ass cagers to actually check before they open the door

I have no problem with trains--one of its cargo is possibly my next bike :). Also, they're not annoying like cagies. Cagies think they can drive properly but cannot. That is unlike a train conductor who knows what the hell they are doing.

A train conductor doesn't drive the train. The driver (North America: Engineer) does. Conductors manage things other than the driving of the train.
